This position will join the CHS Managers’ team and share responsibility for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating all services. This includes monitoring and ensuring quality OF services; collaborating with the specialized clinical team, other CHS Managers and New Direction’s service managers, community service providers and service area funders; and identifying service gaps and creatively developing new initiatives to be responsive to the needs of children, youth, and families. The Manager is also responsible for providing leadership to and supporting the professional growth of a leadership team of coordinators, case managers, and home supervisors. This position is accountable for preparing and managing the service area’s current budget in collaboration with New Directions’ financial team.
The Y-SIL (Youth Supported Independent Living) Manager position will oversee the 24/7 operations of a range of services and sites that support youth to develop skills towards more independent living. Models of supports include individualized homes, shared homes, transition house, landlord mentor, and independent living in community homes and apartments. The Y-SIL Manager is responsible for the development of policies and procedures specific to the service area, managing overall staffing needs (hiring, evaluating and managing end of employment supported by Human Resources) and overseeing crisis response.

• An undergraduate degree with extensive experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; a master’s degree in a social services discipline is an asset

• A comprehensive understanding of child/youth-centered frameworks, including a case management model of service, and a drive to ensure supports are implemented;
• Experience and demonstrated commitment working with and supporting children and youth who have complex needs and who experience multiple barriers, including those impacted by trauma, colonization, and poverty and substance use;
• Experience working creatively and collaboratively with children, youth, and their significant others and supporting systems (e.g., CFS, family, school, clinicians, etc.) in licensed and non-licensed models of support;
• The ability to implement and monitor service evaluation;
• Knowledge of licensing, the work of Child and Family Services and the Department of Families, and the resources for youth working towards adult life (e.g., community resources, challenges and barriers, effective strategies for meaningful engagement, etc.);
• A demonstrated commitment to working with cultural communities present at New Directions; and
• A strong understanding of financial management and comfort in the regular use of Microsoft Office products, including SharePoint and Office D365.
