Child Home Services (CHS)  is one of the many service areas within New Directions. This service area offers a range of home supports (i.e., family supports, foster home, group care homes, individualized homes, independent living, mentored living) to children, youth, and families who are dealing with challenges related to the experience of trauma and/or living with a disability. 

Position details as follows:

This casual position is a hybrid position which mainly consists of remote work. Shifts will be 10-12 hours in length from 7pm-7am with some day shifts 7am-7pm on stat holidays and weekends to support the On Call team.  

 

Responsibilities of the Scheduling Resource Administrator include (but are not limited to): 

 • Collecting and organizing availability from all casual staff to match with open shifts monthly and to prepare lists of available staff for same-day reassignments/call-ins

• Scheduling shifts for casual staff monthly and finalizing the monthly schedules (filling in open shifts with casual staff after the Fulltime/Part time staff are assigned shifts from the Home Supervisors)

• Accepting same-day “call-ins” from staff (e.g., calling in sick) - for all staff in the homes

• Assigning/locating available staff to fill in shifts resulting from the same-day call-ins.

• Provide administrative, reception, data entry and clerical services, requiring knowledge of different reporting mechanics, compliance requirements, internal/external procedures.

• Assist in developing and managing edits to the on-call schedules.

• Assist with staff scheduling upon request.

• Assist in processing invoices, including a range of internal/external transactions with our service providers.

• Assist in developing and editing a variety of internal forms.

• Assist in maintaining our CHS specific SharePoint site.

• Attend CHS specific meetings and takes minutes.

 

The successful candidate will have:

• Completion of high school or equivalent and additional business administration training from a recognized college or institution.

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in administrative roles that handle confidential information.

• Previous experience with scheduling in the social service sector is considered an asset

• Defined remote work space/home office

• Strong computer and data entry skills, with a minimum 60 w.p.m. typing in Microsoft Word, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to continuously learn new database processes. Experience working with SharePoint (or similar) and PowerPoint is considered an asset.

• Ability to self-manage time and balance work in order to meet strict timelines for the completion of tasks and competing priorities.

• Strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to be diplomatic in handling all situations.

• Effective problem-solving ability and excellent customer service skills.

• The ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

 

The salary for this casual position starts at $18.31 per hour.   

 

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record Check, Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check.
