Child Home Services (CHS) offers a range of models of home supports (i.e., family supports, care provider home, group care homes, individualized homes, independent living, mentored living) to children, youth, and families who are dealing with challenges related to the experience of trauma and/or living with a disability. Our community-based resources are designed to support connection with family and community, a sense of belonging, development of skills, and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life.

Family Stepping Stones (FSS) offers supports for families who struggle with parenting due to various factors (e.g., substance use, mental health, lack of resources, trauma, lack of supports, etc.) and whose children are in care of CFS or at risk of coming into care.  

 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited: to conducting initial assessment of referrals; community outreach and case management; leadership in the development of person centered plans; preparing proposals; managing and overseeing budget of assigned homes; overseeing licensing reviews; participation in staff meetings, hiring processes, and the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support; supporting and making strong connections with the children and youth living in the homes; orienting, training and scheduling staff; tracking home maintenance and repairs; budgeting, balancing and accounting for monthly expenditures and administrative duties.  Responsibilities also include liaising with schools, neighbors, and social workers.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Level 4/5 children and youth
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations for children’s residential settings
  • Proven knowledge and ability in decision-making, problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution.
  • Ability and strong commitment to working with high needs children and youth (ie. genuinely cares about children and has a strong commitment to ensuring their well-being and development).
  • Proven ability to provide effective leadership within a team environment with respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness.
  • Candidates should be knowledgeable and respectful of, Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and comfort in the regular use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent and creative problem solving skills.
  • Applicants are required to have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Applicants are required to have current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset.

 

The salary range for this 70-hour bi-weekly position is $33.90 to $42.71 per hour dependent upon education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan).

 

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
